YATA

Yata (aka Steve Peinovich) will entertain you and your Mom at the Mother's Day Concert on Sunday, May 9, 3 PM at the WOWSPACE. Yata says, "Since this is a Mother's Day Concert, I will include one or two songs I've written for my mother--a wonderful woman who is still living on her own and is 91 years young. I'll also include songs I've written about living in Wisconsin, plus some lively golden oldies that everyone will recognize and hopefully will be inspired to sing along."

As a singer, guitarist, and prolific songwriter for over thirty years, Yata has recorded seven albums of original music, appeared with Garrison Keillor on the Prairie Home Companion and in other concert venues. In addition, he has opened for folk giants Tom Paxton, Claudia Schmidt and John Hammond, Jr. and has been awarded a Minnesota Music Award for Best Folk Band in 1980 with ARTESIAN DREAMS. He performs and organizes music in theaters, arenas, coffeehouses, colleges and festivals across the Midwest, and has collaborated with musicians, poets, and songwriters. Yata lives in rural Wisconsin, rearing two children with his wife, the artist Jean Accola.
