On Saturday, April 17, more than 100 people gathered in the WOWSPACE to celebrate spring, feast their eyes on the work of Jean Accola and tickle their taste buds with specialty beers offered by Art of Stevens Point Brewery, cheeses brought by Hugo of DuPont Cheese, an array of wines from Wagner's Shell Food Mart, meats and cheese from Nueske's Applewood Smoked Meats, dainty meringues and mini-chocolate cupcakes from Lisa's Sweet Shoppe Bakery and Catering with palate cleansing grapes from Hanke's Super Valu. We thank all our sponsors and volunteers for making this a memorable evening.
On Saturday, March 21, 2009, more than 100 people had their 'winter blues' melted away at the Beer, Wine & Cheese Gala. Many sponsors helped to create a warm and relaxing evening with a variety of wine provided by The Wagners Shell Food Mart, an array of specialty beer and soda provided by the Stevens Point Brewery, interesting cheeses and meats provided by Nueske's Applewood Smoked Meats, fresh cheeses provided by Dupont Cheese,Inc. and sweet treats provided by Lisa's Sweet Shoppe Bakery and Catering. Majestic Farms Greenhouse and Landscaping again delighted us all with their dramatic plantings while music by the Tom McComb Quartet chased away the winter blues. Four artists: Alan Clough, Alicia Rheal, Brent Zeinert, and Elizabeth Zeinert, provided a visually delightful display of their work. We are pleased to announce that 8 pieces of art were sold. Our sponsors, the artists, along with many others, helped to make this a fine event to chase away the winter doldrums and celebrate the SPRING THAW! More than $5100 was raised which allows us to fund additional murals and expand the Art Park.
On Friday, May 9, 2008, more than 80 people attended the first Wine & Cheese Gala in the WOW space. A festive evening complete with bottle trees, flowers from Majestic Farms Greenhouse and Landscaping, the music of the Zopel Jazz Trio, the delectable cheeses of Nueske's Applewood Smoked Meats, the luscious fruit from Hanke's Super Valu, the WOW water from Langlade Springs, LLC, interesting wines and seeing the wonderful art work from the 'Spring into Summer Art Contest'. Because of the generosity of 22 sponsors -- businesses, individuals, and community organizations -- and the support of the community, we raised almost $3400 which will go to fund more murals. Many people helped make this an outstanding community event. We give a heartfelt thank you to them all.
