WHEEE!!!!
This Mural was created by: Diane Haupt-Wilke
When approached by the Walls of Wittenberg to create the mural for the warming house at the skating rink, I was absolutely thrilled! As I thought about it, I tried to envision a scene where in
"days gone by," (and before our modern-day "craziness"), it might have been just the most wonderful place in a small town to be on a winter day! With that in mind, I tried to portray the mural in a
old-fashioned sense and with a sort of folk art style: people of various ages and stages of their lives...and including a sense of friendship, family and love. I like to think that as the viewer
gazes at this mural that it stirs a "warm" feeling even as the snowy hills and ice are in abundance. (While I worked on this mural in my garage, it certainly didn't feel like the scene I was
painting. Temperatures at times reached a heat index of 110 degrees!)
