Adam Turman
Adam was born in Berkley, CA and moved to Edina, MN at age 10. He graduated from the University of Minnesota-Minneapolis with a Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design in 1998. After graduating, he started working as a graphic designer, learning the business side of art and regularly incorporating illustration into various projects: logos, ad campaigns and merchandise. In 2003 he started screenprinting gig posters for bands around the Twin Cities and thus began his solo venture in the world of art and illustration as Adam Turman, LLC. Currently he lives in St. Louis Park, MN with his wife and two daughters. Read what Adam has to say about drawing!
"I've always loved drawing. Ever since I was able to use a pencil/marker/crayon, I've been drawing. I really enjoy illustration because there is a reason to draw. Having a purpose or a project or a story to tell through drawing, for me, is the best reason to create art. I'm an illustrator, a muralist, a fine artist, and a screenprinter."
"Design is woven throughout every project I do from beginning to finish. With a degree in graphic design, I've worked at and for design firms big and small. My design background has helped me to work easily with various businesses and agencies because I illistrate from a designer's perspective, making the process more seamless."
"I have been screenprinting since 2003. This has allowed me to reach a groader audience than with a single illustration or painting. I enjoy creating artprints of cityscapes, cycling, and beer-related art. More recently, I have started painting murals. Working on a large scale is extremely satisfying. I love leaving a wall that was once a single color as an entirely differently element of a building, bringing some culture to that area."
