Laura Hunt
Laura Hunt grew up in the suburbs of Chicago and spent her summers on her grandparents farm in Wittenberg. After graduating from the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor), she moved to Los
Angeles. She worked for 7 years at The Alliance for Children's Rights, a non-profit legal services agency that represents children in the foster care system. As Director of
Communications, she created and directed an innovative video project that gave ten former foster youth the chance to create a short video on their own personal story of growing up in foster
care. The videos have been shown all over California in an effort to raise awareness about the foster care system, raise funds for programs, promote public policy, and train lawyers, social
workers, judges, and foster parents.
Since moving to Wittenberg in August 2010, she's worked as a freelance writer, photographer, video maker, and communications/marketing consultant. In 2011 she did a 6-part video series on youth
aging out of foster care in Omaha, Nebraska with the Nebraska Children & Families Foundation. She's also volunteered her writing and photography efforts for a variety of Walls of Wittenberg
projects, publications and events.
