Burnt Toast & Jam - WOW's 3rd Third Thursday Concert entertained more than 160 people in the Art Park on a perfect August evening, complete with free ice cream! They are a quintet from the Shawano area and play their unique "dewgrass" (their version of bluegrass) music on acoustic guitar, banjo, rockin' box with spurs, bass and Dobro!
The story of Burnt Toast and Jam began more than 20 years ago when a group of friends gathered to play music at campfires, in garages and living rooms, on the banks of the Red River and among the tall pines of northeast Wisconsin.
These improvisational jam sessions inspired the creation of "Dewgrass," a type of music so named by the daughter of the guitar player. It is their version of bluegrass. The jam sessions evolved and so did the band, members coming and leaving over the years.
Today, these are the members: Timothy M. Balke, acoustic guitar; Kurby Hoffman, banjo; Sarah Ludeman, rockin' box with spurs; Tod Pubanz, bass; and Patrick Rades, Dobro and acoustic guitar. Each band member provides their own individual influences that creates an atmosphere of spontaneous composition on stage. Their CD's include "Burnt Toast and Jam," "Dewgrass" and "Lost in the Woods." Visit their web site to learn more or to download and listen to their music. http://www.burnttoastandjam.com/2.html
The Third Thursday Concert series is funded by donations from the Doris and Irving Hanson Memorial Fund, the Wittenberg Lions Club and the Wittenberg Chamber of Commerce.

Aaron Wiener Jazz Quintet
HIS AUTUMN YEARS - 2009--The Art of Richard Neevel and the music of the Aaron Wiener Jazz Quintet
On October 3, 2009, 100 lucky people were not only treated to the opening show of Richard Neevel's paintings of Wisconsin wildlife but also were electrified and energized by the music of the Aaron Wiener Jazz Quintet. Aaron, a grandson of Richard and current resident of Minneapolis, put together a group of fellow musicians that had the rafters ringing in the WOWSPACE. Aaron's trumpet and flugelhorn calls to Willie Moore on tenor saxophone were answered with verve while Aaron Ollswang on guitar, Ben Kelly on acoustic bass and Erick Ballard on drums all had their own flamboyant riffs. Had the audience been asked, the vote would have been unanimous that this is a group of musicians who should continue to make music together.
Chloe & Vibhas Concert
CHLOE AND VIBHAS IN CONCERT
Chloe Boelter, Vibhas Kendzia and Beth Boelter received a standing ovation from the more than 80 concert goers on Sunday, September 27, 2009. It was an afternoon of enchantment with Chloe making her
debut as singer and cellist and Vibhas adding his artistry on Indian flutes, sax and piano. Who are these musicians?
Chloe Boelter:
Chloe, age 14, has been singing as long as she can remember, joining the Elgin Children's Chorus of Elgin, Illinois, when she was 8. In addition to singing, Chloe plays the cello in her school
orchestra and the Elgin Youth Symphony Orchestra. Through the youth orchestra, she had the awesome privilege of performing with world-class violinist Midori in a November, 2008 concert. This
once-in-a-lifetime experience won't ever be forgotten.
Beth Boelter:
Beth has accompanied all three of her children in recitals and programs through their years in school. She is an active supporter of the arts in the Chicago suburbs and serves as Board President for
the Elgin Children's Chorus.
Vibhas Kendzia:
Vibhas grew up in West Germany and has studied piano and flute since he was five. After completing his academic studies at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt, he continued instruction
in flute, piano and traditional instruments from many countries, all influential in his creation of original world music, melding genres from East to West.
His work and personal curiosity brought him to India where he was introduced to meditation and the beautiful classical sounds of the Bansuri, a native bamboo flute.
Now Sedona, Arizona is home where he was introduced to the haunting sound of the Navajo Indian flutes.
Vibhas has worked for and performed with many international artists. See his web site at www.musicfromthegarden.com
This concert was sponsored by Nueske's Applewood Smoked Meats. Refreshments were provided by Nueske's Applewood Smoked Meats and Lisa's Sweet Shoppe Bakery and Catering.

Vibhas Concert & Art Show
Vibhas Kendzia Concert and Art Show A Success
Vibhas Kendzia's music filled the WOWSPACE on Thurday, September 25, 2008. He is a multi-instrumentalist who has created a unique style of music. Classical training in Germany in piano and flute,
studies in Latin percussion and soprano saxophone, and many years playing Native flutes in India and America have all been influential in creating the original sound he plays today.
His travels around the world brought him to Sedona, Arizona where he was introduced to the haunting sound of the Navajo Indian flutes. Playing them to a background of jazz harmonies and Latin rhythms
creates a trance-like atmosphere of relaxation and well being.
More than 100 people attended the concert. In addition, it was the opening night of the ar show: IMPRESSIONS FROM A LADDER: THE ART OF WARREN CLOUGH.
This event was sponsored by Nueske's Applewood Smoked Meats, with refreshments sponsored by Lisa's Sweet Shoppe Bakery and Catering.
